Yin yoga is based on the taoist beliefs of yin and yang.
During a yin yoga practice, we’re using the yin philosophies by making a shape with our body, finding stillness and letting time, gravity and remaining still to help us acess the deeper tissues of the body - fascia, tendons and ligaments - rather than the muscles. Myofascial meridians, breath, gentle backbends, forward folds and other shapes form the basis of a yin practice.
I teach every Tuesday evening 7.30pm at Yoga West in Titirangi, Auckland up amongst the bush of the Waitakere Ranges.
